So far I signed up to volunteer in two different schools teaching both third graters and high school students English. Tuesday was my first day. However when I sign up to volunteer, I was not told that I was going to be the teacher of these students. The class is "English Conversation" and I imagined I had to assist the instructor with seminars and other class workshops. But once I got there I was told that I myself was going to be talking with the students just about any topic. If only I had asked in advance what I was expected to do, I would have come prepared with a topic. But by the end of the day everything went well. For the first hour I was with two boys and for the second hour I was with six girls, all of them in their second year of high school. Because it was the first week, the first thing we did was to introduce ourselves and then we talked about classes, sports, entertainment, and literature. I also came back on Thursday but I had a different set of students. But for the first hour on Thursday I felt really uncomfortable at the beginning because I was with a group of adults. One of them was an Accounting Professor at the University of Salamanca. She knew her English very well compared to the other adults. But for some reason I felt weird teaching a professor. But nonetheless it was a good feeling. I guess that only happens rarely. But I really did enjoy it.
