Los Angeles Certificate Program: Acting in Hollywood

Graduates of the Boston University School of Theater as well as graduated students of other college/university theater-training programs have the opportunity to continue their education in acting at the Los Angeles Certificate Program: Acting in Hollywood. This program is offered in conjunction with Boston University College of Fine Arts (CFA). This intensive program is supported by of some of Hollywood’s most important professionals such as Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment; Jason Alexander (star of “Seinfeld” as well as scores of other stage, film and television projects), and many others. The program is a ‘bridge to the professional world’ of Hollywood that includes: Internships two to four days a week in top Hollywood theatrical agent and casting offices Focused class study and on-camera work, including scenes, auditioning and commercial technique Individually-focused “self-imaging work” for each student Industry professionals speaking to and coaching students Set-visits to observe TV/film projects in process, field trips to casting studios, and numerous networking opportunities Showcasing the class to casting directors, agents and managers, through meetings, mailings and audition opportunities Four graduate credits each for the internship and acting course

Auckland Internship Programs

All students enroll in one required course, then enroll directly at the University of Auckland or Auckland University of Technology (AUT), depending on their specific field and interests. Students take two courses at the university of their choice and complete an 8- to 10-week internship as their fourth and final course. Fall Semester The fall semester runs for approximately 16 weeks. During the Core Phase, students take the required course for five to six weeks and enroll in two elective courses from the host university’s Semester II course selection. During the Internship Phase, students continue with their two elective courses while placed in their internship. Spring Semester The spring semester runs for approximately 24 weeks during New Zealand’s summer and fall. Therefore, students enroll in both the New Zealand summer session (January–February) and Semester I (March–June). During the summer session, students take the required course and enroll in one elective course. During Semester I, students participate in an internship and enroll in one other elective course.

Padua Italian and European Studies Program

The Padua Italian and European Studies Program offers a semester of study in the historic and lively university town of Padua (Padova) Italy, located 20 miles west of Venice. Designed for students with no previous background in Italian, the program combines a beginning Italian language course with elective coursework in English in a variety of fields. All courses are taught by local faculty either at the BU Padua Academic Center or at the University of Padua. Excursions within Padua and to neighboring sites complement the curriculum for a truly immersive experience in this historically and artistically rich Italian region. Upon successful completion of a semester, students earn 16 Boston University credits.
