The CAPA Buenos Aires Program is hosted at Universidad Austral, located in one of the cities’ most beautiful neighborhoods. A small prestigious school, Universidad Austral connects easily to the city for easy travel to many famous landmarks including the Teatro Colon, the Obelisk, Recoleta Cemetery, the museum mile, and much more. Students live with host families throughout the city with daily breakfast and dinner included. If you want to experience the diverse Latin American culture of Buenos Aires firsthand, this is the program for you.
In the case of the indigenous Australian peoples, music took the place of a written language. Their music was the method by which tradition and knowledge passed from generation to generation. This music continues to be embedded in Aboriginal life in a way that is distinct from the Western tradition: as a means of communication, a crucial aspect of ceremonial life, and in defining identity. In this Seminar, students experience the rich musical traditions of the Aborigine culture and explore the role of music as a factor in the development of historical consciousness. Students have the opportunity to perform, compose, and record interpretations of traditional Australian music.
Located in the Santa Croce neighborhood of Florence, the CAPA Florence Program hosts students to attend classes and soak up history and culture in the center of the city’s traditional art quarter. As a completely walk able city, students experience the rich history of the renaissance city around every corner. In Florence, learning does not stop at the classroom door. Students have endless world-renowned museums to visit as well as access to the library at the British Institute, which is home to more than 50,000 English books. Through exploring Florence, the home to the Renaissance, students encounter diversity in neighborhoods with distinctive shops, art, restaurants, and lifestyle.
