With its underserved population facing a spate of social and health issues, the Dominican Republic offers you fascinating insight into the state of healthcare in the Hispanic Caribbean. Combining traditional classroom instruction with homestays and field work in both urban and semi-rural communities, you will explore the challenges confronting developing countries. Immerse yourself in the richness and complexity of West African politics in two of the region’s most politically active countries. First, see how activism and governance are defined and demonstrated in Ghana, the first African country to achieve independence. Then, gain a deeper understanding of the components of a stable democracy – from history to influences of religion and politics – in Senegal.
