Shanghai Summer - Internship Witness how globalization affects Shanghai, an economic and cultural hub of more than 18 million people, and develop a greater understanding of how the influence of China is increasingly affecting the world. Our program guarantees an internship placement to help you develop professional skills that will jump-start your résumé and make you more attractive to employers in the competitive job market. Our unpaid, academic internships have placed Shanghai students at companies such as General Biologicals Corporation, Horizon FuelCell Technology, and UnicView Marketing Research & Consulting, while also showing students the sights and sounds of China. Before you depart, we work with you to fine-tune your résumé, perfect your cover letter, hone your networking and interview skills, as well as prepare you for working in a new cultural environment. You will be guaranteed a placement at a local business or organization, where you will work for at least 20 hours a week. You will also enroll in a required 1- or 6-credit academic internship seminar with other IES Abroad interns, where you will learn about a variety of local business settings and opportunities. You also can enroll in an optional 3-credit Chinese language course. With our dedicated staff and international connections, you can be sure that you will find an internship that meets your goals. IES Abroad Rabat - Study in Rabat - Semester/Year

As you walk the boulevards of Rabat, it’s hard not to be enchanted by the mystery and tradition of this timeless city. From the bustling souqs (open-air markets) and energizing atmosphere of the city to the serenity of the surrounding mountains and sea, Rabat is an ideal place to learn about the languages, cultures, and religions of North Africa and the Arab world. Delve into the fascinating layers of this North African nation as you learn Modern Standard Arabic with courses at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. Learn Colloquial Moroccan Arabic to communicate with Moroccans, and if you have already taken advanced French, you can take French-taught area studies courses at the IES Abroad Center or local universities. Our curriculum focuses on North African and Islamic Studies, and IES Abroad courses introduce you to the many influential forces shaping the history and culture of Morocco. Rabat will be your classroom. Rich in cultural heritage and a diverse population, Morocco has been influenced by many different ethnic, cultural, and religious groups that have settled in the country throughout its long history. Visit historic treasures like the Rabat Archaeological Museum, the Hassan Mosque, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V to see ancient artifacts and learn more about the Islamic cultural influences. You can also add international work experience to your résumé while earning credit by participating in an internship placement and accompanying academic seminar. We want you to feel at home in Morocco so we do everything we can to help you integrate into life in Rabat. From housing to cultural events, our job is to make sure you have the most authentic study abroad experience possible. IES Abroad Rome - Language & Area Studies - Semester/Year

It is impossible to avoid the past in Rome. It eagerly waits for you around every corner, hoping to intrigue you with a worn-down step, surprise you with an unexpected fountain, or inspire you with soaring architecture. Come study Rome’s unmatched historical and artistic past while simultaneously learning about its modern role in international politics and business. No matter what your current level of Italian language proficiency is, this program is for you. Students enroll in an Italian language course as well as four additional courses, taught in both English and Italian. If you have four or more semesters of Italian language, you can enroll in our Advanced Italian Studies Program, which is designed to be a full immersion experience including Italian-taught courses, an Italian-only language pledge, and more. Rome will be your classroom. Can you imagine places like the Vatican, the Pantheon, the Forum, or the Colosseum being part of your education? Our courses are experiential in nature, and we organize more than 150 course-related excursions each semester to historical, artistic, and cultural sites that take advantage of the city’s many opportunities. You can also enroll in courses at a local university, where you will experience first-hand the Italian educational system. Maybe you’ll even make some Italian friends while you’re at it. If you want to become familiar with the local practices, work culture, and build professional relationships with Italians, enroll in an internship or social action placement.
