Minimum Duration: 2 weeksLanguage Requirement: Basic SpanishEligibility Requirement: Experience in agricultureWork closely with partners that provide training to small farmers, helping them to manage their land effectively and sustainably. Participants in the agriculture internship program will help with workshops, field trainings and the development and provision of educational material. Come with a willingness to learn too!Our internship programs include a guided reflection course, which combines personal development with professional competency building. Interns receive weekly reflection modules to complete during their program - each introduces a new topic, presents learning objectives, and provides specific prompts to inspire the reflective journaling process.Internships in Guatemala are available from the first and third Monday of each month. Placements are based in and around Santa Lucia Milpas Altas, just 15 minutes from Antigua. The locations are optimal for combining tourism activities and cultural excursions with a valuable and immersive internship experience.

Environmental Conservation, Costa Rica - Intern Abroad HQ

Minimum Duration: 2 weeksLanguage Requirement: Basic SpanishDespite it’s small size, 25% of Costa Rica’s territory is environmentally protected, so there is ample opportunity to become involved in conservation efforts. This conservation internship program works toward preserving the fragile ecosystem in protected areas. Activities may include organic gardening, helping to catalogue species of plants and insects, field research, helping to maintain trails, educating the community about ecological practices, and taking care of butterfly farms and medicinal gardens. Suitable participants should be fit, with an interest in wild flora and fauna and sustainability. A background in biology or a related field is desirable but not essential. More importantly, you’ll need a passion for the great outdoors and willingness to get dirty. It’s important to be aware that working conditions can be hot, sunny, and rustic. Participants need to be proactive, willing to work independently and maintain an open mind - especially while you’re establishing a rapport and routine at the beginning of your program. Interns receive weekly reflection modules to complete during their program - each introduces a new topic, presents learning objectives, and provides specific prompts to inspire the reflective journaling process.Short-term internships provides an introductory experience, however longer participation is encouraged in order to take advantage of the reflective process (up to 12 weeks) and gain greater experience. No grades are directly involved and interns can independently arrange academic credit through their home educational provider.
