Istanbul sits at the geographic, cultural, and political fulcrum between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and students at SU Istanbul will gain an incomparable vantage point for examining some of the most important issues of our time - from secularism and Islam, to democratization, security, minority and gender rights, and urban development. The city has been a veritable melting pot of cultures, traditions, and lifestyles stretching back over 2000 years. Based at Bahcesehir University, the SU Istanbul program will introduce you to the city's grand past and its exciting future. To get a feel for what life is like on campus, visit the SU Istanbul website. The academic program in Istanbul combines the SU Abroad Signature Seminar and optional internships with the opportunity to take coursework in English alongside Turkish students and international peers at Bahçesehir University. In addition to two required courses with SU Abroad faculty, most SU Istanbul students will enroll in three or four Bahçesehir University courses. Program students live in modern dormitory suites, which are an easy commute to campus. The SU Istanbul director will be there to advise and guide you from the moment you arrive. By the time you finish the Signature Seminar Istanbul: Crossroad of Civilizations, Past and Present, you will be prepared to make the most of the many resources your new host city has to offer. The SU interdisciplinary seminar, Contemporary Issues in Turkey, will further serve to focus and inform the rest of your coursework. Highlights * Signature Seminar: Istanbul - Crossroad of Civilizations, Past and Present * Field trip excursions * Courses taught in English * Modern dormitory suites * Internships and volunteer opportunities available * Group flight option available * Option to study Turkish and Arabic language
