As the world’s fastest growing major economy, China is the place to be for interns seeking opportunities in fields ranging from business to technology to education and development. However, China’s booming job market is not its only draw. China’s fascinating mix of ancient and modern, along with its art, food, and incredible regional differences, have drawn visitors for centuries. The natural beauty of the Chinese landscape is as diverse as the people who call this vast country home, and offers the adventurous traveler the opportunity to explore to their heart’s content. Internship placements in China’s two largest cities, Beijing and Shanghai, allow interns to experience both the traditional and the cosmopolitan side of modern day Chinese life. Interns can expect to work side by side with local colleagues, receive direction from a manager or staff member, and behave just as one would in a real job. On weekends or after work hours, interns engage in a host of activities depending on each participant’s tastes. Interns share meals with new friends or host family members, take in cultural events, explore the city, or even take day or weekend trips outside of the area. World Endeavors provides a list of possible activities in the area and the World Endeavors local coordinator can also function as an ever present guide and ambassador to the area.
