YFU's scholarship for minority high school students to study abroad in Germany.
Most awards will require a student contribution of at least half of the tuition. Open to U.S. minority high school students with freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class standing. Students must have a 3.0 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Finalists for this scholarship are selected on merit-based criteria. Students who have previously participated in a semester or year exchange in another country are not eligible for the Germany programs and scholarships. Scholarship Covers: Round-trip international travel Round-trip domestic travel Placement with a carefully selected host family Regional orientation for scholarship recipients and parents Preparatory materials Support services in host country
A full scholarship is available to African-American students attending urban public high schools in Michigan or South Carolina, with a focus on the Detroit Metro area in Michigan, and Beaufort and Charleston counties in South Carolina. Non-U.S. citizens may apply. Scholarship recipient will be responsible for the application fee, any visa fees, and personal spending money.
