Apartments Abroad

Do you imagine yourself with total living independence when you go abroad? If you are mature, looking for a unique living environment and seek independence, consider living in an apartment when you go abroad.

Benefits

Here are just some of the benefits of living in an apartment:

• Be independent.

• Experience what it is like to live on your own abroad. This can be particularly helpful if you are thinking about working abroad in the future.

• Enjoy more privacy than most home stay and dorm situations.

• Do your own laundry.

• Have the option to cook your own food or go out to eat.
  

Also, in many popular destinations, there will be entire apartment complexes reserved for foreign students who come to study abroad. You will be exposed to the diverse ideas and cultures of other students from all over the world. This will be an important part of your cross-cultural education.

Challenges

Living in an apartment isn’t for everyone. It can be difficult and time-consuming to find an apartment abroad. Some students find living in an apartment to be isolating. Also, you will also have fewer opportunities to practice the local language and may have less exposure to the culture if you.

Note: Not all programs allow students to stay in apartments. Check with the study abroad program to determine if this option is available.
