International Student Insurance

Travel Health Insurance

Get affordable travel health insurance before you leave to study abroad--it's the smart thing to do. Think of it this way: an unplanned illness or injury could turn an enriching experience into a nightmare. Travel health insurance offers affordable protection from illness or injury that could ruin your experience.

Reasons to get travel health insurance

  1. Most U.S health insurance policies won’t cover you for illnesses or injuries abroad.
  2. You pay nothing out of pocket in most instances as travel insurance companies usually set up direct billing with foreign hospitals.
  3. Stay covered for your entire time abroad, even if you go on excursion outside your host country.
  4. Extra services such as Emergency Medical Evacuations and 24-hour customer support may be included in your travel insurance policy.

Note: Each travel insurance policy’s benefits differ. Carefully review the insurance policy to ensure that it will meet your needs.

Most programs require travel health insurance

Most study abroad programs require that you carry health insurance. Most programs, moreover, include travel insurance in the program’s overall cost, but be sure to verify with your program whether this is true. If your study abroad program doesn't offer health insurance, or if you plan to participate in a non-traditional program (intern abroad, volunteer abroad or language schools abroad), it's in your best interest to purchase affordable travel insurance.
