Each year, the Go Global Tour sets out to meet students at campuses across the country. The Go Global Tour is our way of bringing Diversity Abroad resources directly to YOU, the students. Not sure what it’s all about? Find out more below:

What is the Go Global Tour?

The Go Global Tour, also called GGT for short, is Diversity Abroad’s nationwide campus-based initiative designed to introduce resources and opportunities to students across the country, particularly those from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.

Who is GGT for?

The Go Global Tour is for ALL students on campus, but especially those who do not traditionally go abroad. This includes (but is not limited to): students of all racial/ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, religious minorities, first-generation college students, and students with high financial need.

What do you do on campus?

Our priority is to meet YOU, the student, wherever you may be. Sometimes this means making quick announcements in your classrooms, or tabling in your student union. We also try to work with the Study Abroad office at your school to schedule an information session so you can gain some insight about who we are, and how we can support you. We might just be at your study abroad fair, too.

This means we get in touch with everyone from the Study Abroad office and Career Services, to the Office of Multicultural Affairs or Student Activities. We recognize that a lot of students we work with can be found across all academic disciplines, so we try to reach out to your professors as well. If they’re able to let us speak briefly during class, we definitely try and make that happen!

So are you competing with our campus study abroad office?

Absolutely not! We work with the study abroad office at each campus we visit because we wouldn’t want to duplicate our mutual efforts to get you interested in going abroad. In fact, Diversity Abroad doesn’t create its own global programs.

Wait, you don’t have global programs? So what are you promoting on campus?

Good question! When we go on campus, we aren’t asking you to come with US to go abroad, because that option simply doesn’t exist.

We want you to feel prepared and informed about the different types of global opportunities that are out there, the amount of scholarship funds available to you as students, and some resource guides about how your identity may impact your experience overseas. Whether you decide to go abroad through a program offered at your school, or through a program listed on our website is entirely up to you.

How long have you been doing the GGT?

DiversityAbroad.com was launched in 2006, and the GGT started in 2008 to make sure students knew who we were. That means this is our 8th year of visiting colleges across the country!

Great! So where will you be on tour this year?

Excellent question! To find out where we’ll be next, check out our events page at www.diversityabroad.com/events. Use the hashtag #GoGlobalTour or #GGT and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to find out where we’ll be next!

Can you bring GGT to my campus?

We would love to come to every school interested in having us! We try to plan the tour at least a year in advance, so while we can’t guarantee we’ll be in your neighborhood this year, we’re excited to know you want to bring GGT to your campus. Feel free to e-mail Student Outreach Coordinator Trixie Cordova at tcordova@diversityabroad.org for more information. In the meantime, our online resources are available 24/7 at www.diversityabroad.com so please use our website to your full advantage.

Hope to see you out there!
