Food, pubs, places to visit, cheap daily apartment in Barcelona    Email  Print Forum

Hi,

PLACES TO GO CLUBBING IN BARCELONA: MARIA CUBI AREA
There are many places and areas to go out in Barcelona. Something you should know: Bars are open until 3 am, and clubs are open from 12 am until 6 am, more or less.
Last weekend I went out in an area called María Cubi, which not everybody knows about. This area is good for going out if you like RnB and hip hop music. The best way to start the night is to have a drink in the Maria Cubi street, in bars like ‘Mas y Mas’, ‘Bubblic’ or ‘Universal’. Check out for flyers and discounts (free drinks) that people will give you in the street for the bars and discos of the area.
When these bars are closed, you can head to the nearby clubs. I recommend especially ‘Otto Zutz’, which different dance floors, hip hop, dance and pop. ‘Costa Brava’ is also very good, bigger but with only one dance floor. Both of them are very popular!

I do recommend staying in the Gothic because it’s really the heart of what’s happening in the city. Just be aware, and stay clear of the following places: La Rambla, (a.k.a. La Rob-la), the Metro (one of the places I’ve seen the most robberies, averaging one sighting a week), Calle Ferran (filled with drunk tourists) Irish bars (obviously).  Accommodation - we found the landlady who gives her apartment  for rent in Barcelona centre, in Gothic quarter, close to Las Ramblas, just in one minute from City Port. We paid 28 euros per night per persons. the apartment was 2 bedrooms. Here is her contacts:r_s_2002@mail.ru  or there are a lot of recommendations on travel forums about http://www.barcelonarealestate.es

To eat - taste tortilla patatas, tapas, pana catalana. Places to visit - everything which has the conneccion with Gaudi. Las Golondrinas This is the genereric name for a long and short boat ride out of the harbor. The longer and more expensive boat tour leaves the harbor, out through the channel, and sails along the beach in the Mediterranean. This is a great trip on a warm, sunny morning or afternon, but it gets a little chilly while you are on the ocean. Admission comes to 21.00e for two, and there is a shorter, less expensive trip on a smaller boat ... You will find everything yourself when you will be there...

Bread: Baguette could be 39cents or 52 cents or 55 cents, Loaf could be 85cents, |1.20, |2.00, Bread Rolls could be 85cents or |1.20
Prices vary considerably from brand to brand and shop to shop; Spanish brands are much cheaper than imported products.

Average prices in my local supermarket are:-
LOAF OF BREAD 57 cents to 2 Euros
LITRE OF MILK 50 cents to 1 Euro
WATER (1.5 litre bottle) 20 cents to 1 Euro
