Conservation Field School in Croatia

The Croatia Conservation Summer Field School offers a unique look at the vernacular building culture of Croatia’s central Dalmatian Coast. The Field school is an intensive historic preservation and cultural landscapes program that allows students to gain hands-on experience in a culturally rich setting. Small teams of students explore villages constructed between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries while learning the history of the area, documenting and analyzing important structures, and investigating local sustainable practices such as rainwater catchment. There are numerous field trips led by local experts, and students learn local building skills by participating in hands-on building projects. The program includes two main sessions with a short break (or intersession) between.
