AIFS Gap Year Programs: Salzburg, Austria (Summer)

The birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg is one of the most elegant and interesting cities in Europe. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique character and architecture, enjoy the charm of city life and the tranquility of its lush meadows, mountains and lakes. You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities such as Austrian cooking classes, a Sound of Music tour, and visits to the Austrian Lake District, Salt Mines, Werfen Castle and Hellbrunn Palace. A 3-day trip to Vienna and day trip to Innsbruck are included in the AIFS program. Optional excursions include a 3-day trip to Prague and a day trip to Munich. AIFS in Salzburg offers a 2-week German language orientation course to help students from Beginner to Advanced adjust to life in Austria. In addition to the music courses offered, AIFS can arrange musical instrument instruction for interested students. Volunteer opportunities are also available. AIFS is a premier provider of study abroad programs. Comprehensive fees cover tuition and housing, with scholarship funding available. A meal plan, tours and excursions, insurance and 24-hour emergency service are also included. Convenient AIFS Flight Packages with major airlines are also available.

AIFS Study Abroad in Viña del Mar, Chile

Earn up to 15 credits through a wide variety of courses studying at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Viña del Mar. Live in a shared student apartment or as a member of a Chilean homestay, a great way to immerse yourself in the language. Truly take in the culture of Chile with included social and cultural activities such as a day trips to Santiago, Valparaiso, and Isla Negra. Options include a 4-day excursion to the town of Pucon, which overlooks the Villarica Volcano. Community volunteer opportunities are also available.

AIFS Study Abroad in Florence, Italy

Earn credits through a wide variety of courses when you study in beautiful, historic Florence at Richmond University. You’ll have the option to live in a homestay or in a student apartment as you experience many social and cultural activities, such as trips to local art galleries, an Italian cooking class, and visits to the local museums. Enjoy trips to Rome, Siena and Venice, immersing yourself in the Italian culture. Volunteer and internship opportunities are also available. AIFS in Florence includes a one-week orientation before the semester begins so students can acclimate themselves to Italian language and culture. Fall semester students attend orientation in the beach-side town of Pietrasanta, while spring semester students attend orientation in Rome. A for-credit International Internship Program (IIP) is also available, in which students take a 2-week Intensive Language Preparation course worth 2 credits. In the spring semester, a Fashion Management and Marketing Program is also offered. Volunteer opportunities are available and interested students can enhance their volunteer work with a for-credit Service Learning and Active Citizenship course.
