Students spend 3 weeks in the heart of the Dolomites mountain range in the northern Italian Alps living in a residence in the historical center of Brixen, Italy - the oldest town in the province. The area is recognized for culinary excellence, fantastic skiing and delightful holiday markets. Students will enjoy visiting piazzas filled with festive stalls and shops selling traditional gifts and sampling vin brulé, brezel and krapfen. This is a perfect location to learn about Italian food and culture. The history/anthropology course, Italian Food and Culture, provides an examination of the deep links between geography, history and the culture of Italian regional dishes. Students will learn about the development of Italian food culture through lectures, seminars, guest lectures and tastings/visits to local producers. Topics of discussion include: Italian regional differences in food preparation; representations of Italian food practices in media/film; food symbolism in Italian culture; food ethics and sustainable agriculture; and modern fast & slow food traditions in Italy.

Your student apartment, built to house the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team, is located a short walk from campus. AIFS Study Abroad in Sâo Paulo, Brazil

Earn college credit in South America's largest city, founded in 1554 by Jesuit priests. São Paulo has a unique ethnic diversity, not found anywhere else in the world. The multicultural metropolis is the economic and cultural heart of Brazil with the highest national consumer market and a vibrant fashion and music scene. Depending on the term, students can earn up to 9 or 18 semester credits while living in a homestay or student apartment/house. A meal allowance is provided. Cultural and social activities range from guided tours of the city center, to trips to art museums, and day trips to Juquehy Beach, Santos and Embu Das Artes. Check your desired term for specific program details, as summer programs differ slightly from year and semester programs. Volunteer and internship opportunities are available to academic year and semester students.
