AIFS Study Abroad in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
This Galápagos program gives students the opportunity to earn 3 credits studying an environmental science course in one of the most pristine natural laboratories in the world. Stay with local families on San Cristóbal Island and in hotels in Quito and Santa Cruz Island. Based at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) extension campus on the island of San Cristóbal and taught by USFQ faculty, you will study major ecosystems of the islands and experience them firsthand on academic field excursions to designated visitor sites. These locations include some of the world's most beautiful beaches as well as species of flora and fauna that exist nowhere else on earth. Earn up to 15 credits through a wide variety of courses studying at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Viña del Mar. Live in a shared student apartment or as a member of a Chilean homestay, a great way to immerse yourself in the language. Truly take in the culture of Chile with included social and cultural activities such as a day trips to Santiago, Valparaiso, and Isla Negra. Options include a 4-day excursion to the town of Pucon, which overlooks the Villarica Volcano. Community volunteer opportunities are also available.
The St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute was founded in 1899 and became one of the major universities of Russia and the former Soviet Union. It was raised to the status of state technical university in 1990 in recognition of its importance. The University is home to more than 26,000 students and 2,000 professors, lecturers and instructors. The academic program is organized by the Russian Language Center at the Preparatory Department for Foreign Students, one mile from the main campus. This department trains students from all over the world who wish to enter higher education at Russian universities and is highly regarded for excellent teaching of Russian as a foreign language.
