AIFS Study Abroad in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
This Galápagos program gives students the opportunity to earn 3 credits studying an environmental science course in one of the most pristine natural laboratories in the world. Stay with local families on San Cristóbal Island and in hotels in Quito and Santa Cruz Island. Based at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) extension campus on the island of San Cristóbal and taught by USFQ faculty, you will study major ecosystems of the islands and experience them firsthand on academic field excursions to designated visitor sites. These locations include some of the world's most beautiful beaches as well as species of flora and fauna that exist nowhere else on earth. AIFS in Stellenbosch offers a traditional academic program as well as a Learning for Sustainable Community Engagement Program (LSCE). Students can choose courses from Stellenbosch University’s full course catalog which covers a broad range of subjects. LSCE students take specific courses in Sustainable Community Engagement, plus one or two electives, in addition to volunteer work in the community. AIFS also offers students with an interest in art, photography, ceramics or marketing the opportunity to intern at the Ardmore Ceramic Studio in Kwazulu Natal.
