AIFS Study Abroad: LGBTQ History (Summer Traveling Program)
Travel in London, Paris and Berlin this summer earning 3 credits with AIFS. LGBTQ History - For Queer and Country is a study and travel program exploring the culture and history of the LGBTQ community.
Spend 11 nights in London, 5 nights in Paris and 5 nights in Berlin. As three of Europe's most vibrant cities, each has a well-established LGBTQ culture and history. This program examines the international reach of LGBTQ+ politics and reviews the discrimination and persecution of LGBTQ people in Europe.
You'll stay in student residences and studios with daily breakfast included. Cultural and social activities include walking tours, day trips and group meals. Ample free time for exploring on your own is also included in the itinerary.
Visit numerous landmarks and historical sites in the capitals of England, France and Germany. Expand your horizons with excursions to places like Brighton, England, popularly known as the "gay capital" of the UK. Meet with the Lesbian and Gay Association Berlin Brandenburg in Germany. Visit the tomb of Oscar Wilde in Paris and so much more!
Earn college credit in South America's largest city, founded in 1554 by Jesuit priests. São Paulo has a unique ethnic diversity, not found anywhere else in the world. The multicultural metropolis is the economic and cultural heart of Brazil with the highest national consumer market and a vibrant fashion and music scene. Depending on the term, students can earn up to 9 or 18 semester credits while living in a homestay or student apartment/house. A meal allowance is provided. Cultural and social activities range from guided tours of the city center, to trips to art museums, and day trips to Juquehy Beach, Santos and Embu Das Artes. Check your desired term for specific program details, as summer programs differ slightly from year and semester programs. Volunteer and internship opportunities are available to academic year and semester students.
Earn up to 15 credits through a wide variety of courses studying at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Viña del Mar. Live in a shared student apartment or as a member of a Chilean homestay, a great way to immerse yourself in the language. Truly take in the culture of Chile with included social and cultural activities such as a day trips to Santiago, Valparaiso, and Isla Negra. Options include a 4-day excursion to the town of Pucon, which overlooks the Villarica Volcano. Community volunteer opportunities are also available.
