API High School Walton International STEM Experience
Trinity College Dublin and API are offering high school students a unique, 10-day university-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) enrichment program, through the Walton International Program. This offering is designed specifically for students who have a strong interest in STEM areas. Students will work alongside like-minded Irish students, STEM academics and Ph.D. students from Trinity College Dublin, while engaging in STEM activities such as designing mathematical functions, building micro-controlled projects, experimenting with Newton's Laws, and more! As a Walton International Alpha, you will embark on a STEM educational journey while experiencing all that Trinity has to offer as a prospective undergraduate student!
Requirements: 3.0 GPA minimum required (exceptions made on case-by-case basis)
Ages: 15-16 year olds; rising sophomores and juniors, completing grades 9, 10
Housing: Double rooms in Trinity Hall, Trinity's freshman residence hall at Trinity College Dublin; all meals included

Students in this program select a combination of French language and cultural electives, and have the option of taking cultural electives in English. Contact hours of French language depend on the level of French a student has. Depending on how many contact hours of French language and culture a student takes, they may be able to take 1 or 2 cultural electives (offered in English).
Live with local host families, in a shared apartment, or in a student residence and experience Paris like a local.
Students at all levels have the option of earning an additional three credits each semester if they complete an elective course taught in English exclusively for UCONN and API students through the University of Connecticut.
All students with 4 semesters of college-level French (equivalent to the intermediate level) or more are able to participate in the teaching internship for an additional 3 credits. Beginning and intermediate-level students can also do the internship, but are not eligible to earn credit or a grade for the experience. Spaces are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first served basis and is an additional fee.
