Founded in 1869, University of Otago is New Zealand's oldest university and carries a sense of history and tradition. The university boasts a number of field stations for the study of marine science and geology. It has particular strengths in engineering, biological sciences, chemistry, anthropology, religious studies, philosophy and law, and offers an Antarctic studies program. Additionally, Canterbury’s School of Business and Economics has recently earned AACSB business accreditation. Spend a semester or year at New Zealand's second-oldest university and a center of research and academic excellence. Canterbury's academic program is divided amongst five colleges and a school of law. It is well-known for its engineering program, and it is only one of two universities in New Zealand to offer this major. It is the only university to offer speech and language therapy, and astronomy.
