Study abroad at the University of the Western Cape would open up an array of exciting course options to you, in an historic and beautiful setting. Since its ground-breaking foundation in 1959, UWC played a pivotal role in the development of democratic South Africa and the demise of apartheid, South Africa's system of segregation on the grounds of race.
Located 15 miles from Cape Town city center, the University has its own train station and access to an abundance of outdoor activities in the stunning surrounding landscape. You'll settle in easily with a large variety of clubs, societies and facilities to enjoy; such as rim flow, Olympic sized swimming pool, radio society and the student newspaper.
While liberal arts and humanities hold an important place at UWC, equally as important and strong are education, law and health sciences. This leading research and teaching institution is also internationally renowned for its International Ocean Institute.
All students will take the Arcadia Core Course to gain a solid understanding of this fascinating country and to encourage discussion of current events: Introducing South Africa: History, Politics and Culture. You then have a choice of two options:
You may take three courses from UWC's wide choice of subjects.
Or, you may take two courses at UWC plus one at The Cornerstone Institute, a school devoted to service learning in the local community. AVAILABLE FROM SPRING 2019.
All courses are taught in English with the exception of advanced language courses.
UTS is located in the heart of Sydney's media district and it is little surprise that UTS has one of the most competitive communications programs in Australia. Whether your interest is in journalism, media studies, or writing, UTS offers a uniquely Australian perspective. Other strong subject areas you may study include information technology, business, design, and urban studies courses.
Two key features of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) convey its character and appeal. First, the courses at UTS are progressive in nature, intellectually engaging and frequently industry linked. Second, a location in the very heart of Sydney, only minutes from the Central Railway Station and Darling Harbour. UTS has created a sticky campus concept and installed private rooms and study/lounge areas throughout campus that look like mini living rooms. Additionally, there are group work areas equipped with Smart Boards, plasma screens, and touch screen projectors.
