Applicants must have completed three semesters of college or university level German or have achieved an equivalent level of language proficiency at the time of application. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of academic records and personal statements. Terms of Award: DAAD will consider individual placement preferences, but grantees must accept DAAD’s final decision as to time and place. Courses can be taken between June and January of the following year. The scholarship of approximately €2,300 covers tuition, accommodations (arranged by the host institute) and a cash allowance, depending on the choice of course, location and accommodation. DAAD will also cover health insurance and provide a lump sum toward travel costs. Scholarship recipients are expected to devote their full attention to the course and may not concurrently undertake individual research. A written report is requested within four weeks of the end of the course.
