Intensive German Language in Berlin

This program is focused on German language skill development. You will directly enroll in FUBiS, the summer program of the Freie Universität of Berlin. FUBiS offers semi-intensive and intensive German classes on up to five proficiency levels, allowing you to improve your German skills considerably. Field trips to vast historic, cultural and political institutions are integral components of all classes. Develop your intercultural communication skills as part of an international community of students from more than 50 countries studying in Berlin. Further these skills by living with a local family in a homestay.

Maya Communities and Social Justice in Chiapas

This 7-week summer program is ideal for those interested in Spanish, Latin American Studies, Ethnic Studies, History, International Studies, Anthropology, Food Studies, Family Human Services, and Environmental Studies. Learn about the ways in which globalization and NAFTA have affected agriculture, subsistence and food production, land ownership, human rights, and indigenous autonomy among Maya communities in San Cristóbal de las Casas and its surrounding areas. The courses offered will provide historical and cultural context to better understand contemporary Chiapas. You will then have the opportunity to engage with the local community by collaborating with Mexican students on a service learning project. The program will be hosted by the Instituto de Lenguas Jovel and its Director Helga Loebell.

Journalism in London

Immerse yourself in the communications and media scene in London during this five-week summer program. Designed to take advantage of opportunities to experience some of the unique communication headquarters in London, excursions include visits to BBC Television and Radio, the ITN News Headquarters, and attendance at major political and art events held throughout the summer. Courses are designed with special emphasis on journalistic skill building as well as theoretical analytical components.
