Semi -Intensive German Language and Culture in Berlin
This program is ideal if you are looking to be immersed in German language and culture. You will enroll directly in the Freie Universität Berlin (FUBiS), a leading research institution in Germany. You can opt to take one content course in English (or Spanish) or a German language course. Field trips to museums, memorials and cultural and political institutions are integral components of all classes. In some courses, you have the unique opportunity to attend specially organized and exclusive round-table discussions with decision makers, diplomats and experts in their field of study.
Enroll with German and other international students in this three-week J-term program. Every year FUBiS offers more than 45 courses, both content and German classes. These courses are held mostly in English (aside from the German language classes) by distinguished German and international faculty. Content classes are kept small, with the number remaining below 18 students. Language courses will not exceed 15 students. Not all courses listed are offered every term. Course offerings are subject to change depending on enrollment and availability.
This program is ideal for students interested in studying global health and development issues in Africa. On this program you will take courses examining health and development in Ghana, as well as contemporary issues facing Ghanaian society. As a complement to your coursework, you will be placed in a hands-on service learning/internship experience at a local community organization, healthcare service provider, or research institute. You will also receive an introduction to Modern Twi (Ghana's most commonly spoken language), through your on-site orientation or as a course offering. If you have career aspirations in the field of community and international development, social work and health-related occupations, you will greatly benefit from this program.
Social entrepreneurship is an attempt to use business techniques to develop innovative solutions for the world’s most pressing problems. England has a vibrant community of social entrepreneurs that will allow our students to explore innovative solutions to some of the world’s seemingly intractable problems.
Earn 6 quarter credits or 4 semester hours in Social Entrepreneurship (BA 199 Social Entrepreneurship). This program takes you on an exciting journey through the vibrant business culture of the United Kingdom, aiming to help you understand how social entrepreneurism is put into practice in places such as London, Edinburgh and Cambridge. Academic activities are integrated with excursions, giving you an inside look at many socially innovative companies. Visits to several well-known cultural locations in the city and surrounding area are also planned. All instruction is in English.
