IES Abroad Shanghai Summer - Internship

A thoroughly modern city risen from a fishing village less than 100 years ago, Shanghai has been heavily influenced by Western business, culture, and architecture. If you are searching for a rapidly changing, dynamic city to in which to study, Shanghai is your destination. Learn the impact of such rapid modernization on local customs and the environment. Practice your Chinese with some of the over 26 million citizens calling this—the largest and most developed city in China—home. Shanghai Summer - Internship Witness how globalization affects Shanghai, an economic and cultural hub of more than 18 million people, and develop a greater understanding of how the influence of China is increasingly affecting the world. Our program guarantees an internship placement to help you develop professional skills that will jump-start your résumé and make you more attractive to employers in the competitive job market. Our unpaid, academic internships have placed Shanghai students at companies such as General Biologicals Corporation, Horizon FuelCell Technology, and UnicView Marketing Research & Consulting, while also showing students the sights and sounds of China. Before you depart, we work with you to fine-tune your résumé, perfect your cover letter, hone your networking and interview skills, as well as prepare you for working in a new cultural environment. You will be guaranteed a placement at a local business or organization, where you will work for at least 20 hours a week. You will also enroll in a required 1- or 6-credit academic internship seminar with other IES Abroad interns, where you will learn about a variety of local business settings and opportunities. You also can enroll in an optional 3-credit Chinese language course. With our dedicated staff and international connections, you can be sure that you will find an internship that meets your goals. IES Abroad London - Study London - Semester/Year

The goal of our 40+-year-old program is to help you explore contemporary London, both physically and culturally. Gain a deeper knowledge of British culture, including the central importance of history to the British. Explore the global impact of Britain on Western culture, including art, literature, and financial and political systems. Choose from more than 40 IES Abroad-taught courses taught by expert local faculty at our Center, as well as a course at one of our prestigious local partner universities—City University, Queen Mary, or the School of Oriental & African Studies. Not only are there hundreds of courses and disciplines available through our partner universities, but you also have the opportunity to make local British and international friends. Additional unique offerings include our Global Leadership Certificate for students interested in leadership studies (see page 14) and our creative workshop courses that focus on the production of a piece of creative work (writing, film, or fine art). While adding study abroad to your résumé is impressive enough, adding an international internship is even more powerful, and can help distinguish your application for graduate school or a job opportunity in today’s competitive market. Before you depart, we talk to you about the type of placement you’d like and then work to match you with a placement in London. Service learning placements are also available if you would like to gain a deeper understanding of the city’s culture and society.

IES Abroad Cape Town Summer - Health Studies

You do not want miss the once-in-a-lifetime chance to study abroad in one of the most beautiful cities on Earth. But there is more to Cape Town than its beauty: its dynamic society is ever-changing and growing, and you can witness it first-hand. Immerse yourself in the African culture and explore one of the most diverse environments in the world. Cape Town Summer Surrounded by mountains and the sea near the southern tip of Africa, Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is also an ideal location to experience the dynamic change in a country that is highly developed, but where millions live in poverty. You witness and participate in the South African effort to deliver health care effectively to the poorer urban and rural residents. Designed for students interested in health-related careers, this program enables you to examine health care delivery in South Africa.
