Diversity Abroad Consortium Summer Scholarship

The Diversity Abroad Consortium will offer $500 and $1000 summer scholarships for full-time undergraduate (both community college and university level) students attending a member institution. To see if your school is a Diversity Abroad member, please check this website:

Deadline Extension: Applications due June 1, 2020

Programs Eligible: Domestic and global engagement programs are now eligible for a $500 award. Examples of these types of programs include:

  • Volunteering for an organization that works with international populations in your community
  • An domestic internship with an international NGO
  • A research project focused on a global issue, international education, or diversity & inclusion

You do not need to be receiving academic credit to qualify for this award. You will be asked to provide a letter from the organization verifying your summer 2020 participation.

Recommendation: The recommendation requirement is waived for Summer 2020. You do not need to complete the recommendation request section of the application to be eligible for the award. 

Additional Information:

Applicants must be full-time undergraduates at a university or community college based in the Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States. Economically disadvantaged students, African-American/Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, Multiracial/ethnic or Indigenous/Native-American, students with disabilities and first generation college undergraduate students are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Attend a Diversity Abroad member institution (visit this page to see if your institution is a member:

• Have minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA or the equivalent at an accredited university or college.

• Participate in a study abroad, domestic or global engagement program, for a minimum length of 4 weeks.

• Be willing to share their experiences abroad with the community via articles, student story, and country guide submissions and participate in the community.


Half of the scholarship is paid to student via Paypal prior to the beginning of the program.

The remaining scholarship is paid to student via Paypal after the program ends and all scholarship requirements are complete.
