All students enroll in one required course, then enroll directly at the University of Auckland or Auckland University of Technology (AUT), depending on their specific field and interests. Students take two courses at the university of their choice and complete an 8- to 10-week internship as their fourth and final course. Fall Semester The fall semester runs for approximately 16 weeks. During the Core Phase, students take the required course for five to six weeks and enroll in two elective courses from the host university’s Semester II course selection. During the Internship Phase, students continue with their two elective courses while placed in their internship. Spring Semester The spring semester runs for approximately 24 weeks during New Zealand’s summer and fall. Therefore, students enroll in both the New Zealand summer session (January–February) and Semester I (March–June). During the summer session, students take the required course and enroll in one elective course. During Semester I, students participate in an internship and enroll in one other elective course.

FIE's Dublin summer program is an incredible way to spend 5.5 weeks studying, exploring, and travelling in Ireland. The program offers students the opportunity to gain an understanding of Ireland across a broad spectrum of study and experience. Students complete two courses during the program: 1) An Insight into Irish History, Politics and Literature and 2) Irish Culture and Society. The program includes two co-curricular field excursions to Northern Ireland and Cork to contextualize and deepen the experience. Rabat is one of Morocco's "imperial cities," as well as its political capital. It is home to the leading educational institutions in the country and offers students opportunities to move from the shops and cafes of the "modern" city to the winding alleys and exciting markets of the old medina in a few minutes' walk. Students attend their classes at the AMIDEAST Center in the bustling Agdal area of Rabat close to the buildings of AMIDEAST's partner, the College of Letters and Humanities of Mohammed V University, near the Royal Palace. Courses are taught by English-speaking Moroccan faculty members from the University and other universities in Rabat and neighboring cities. Students in the AMIDEAST Education Abroad Program in Rabat carry a 14 to 17 credit hour course load per semester. All students enroll in Arabic (Modern Standard Arabic; 5 credits and Moroccan Colloquial Arabic; 3 credits) and two or three other elective courses (depending on the student’s preference) from offerings in Middle East and North African studies in a variety of disciplines taught in English. Course topics may include political science, religion, sociology, women's studies, history, and Amazigh studies. Students must have intermediate-high French proficiency or higher in order to take a French course. AMIDEAST prioritizes high quality instruction of both Modern Standard Arabic and Moroccan colloquial Arabic to beginning through advanced students of the language. All courses are taught exclusively for the AMIDEAST program, and students take classes only with other program participants. In addition to academic coursework, students in the program live with Arabic-speaking Moroccan families. Students travel on program-organized excursions to significant sites throughout Morocco, engage in service learning activities, and participate in facilitated cultural dialogues with Moroccan students.
