AMIDEAST Area & Arabic Language Studies in Amman, Jordan (Semester/Academic Year)

Amman, the capital of Jordan, has expanded from a quaint sleepy town to the bustling, multi-cultural metropolis it is today. As Jordan is deeply enmeshed in the international relations of the region, students may find no better place to study pressing Middle Eastern issues and Jordanian Arabic. Students live either with Jordanian host families or in shared apartments with other AMIDEAST students.

Students in the Area & Arabic Language Studies Program in Amman carry a 14 to 17 credit hour course load per semester. Students have the option of enrolling in Blended Modern Standard and Colloquial Jordanian Arabic (8 credits) or just in Colloquial Jordanian Arabic (3 credits, required) and two to three other courses from offerings in Middle East and North African studies in a variety of disciplines taught in English. AMIDEAST Education Abroad Program courses in Amman are taught by a select group of Jordanian professors from a variety of institutions in and around Amman. These lecturers possess a strong instructional experience in English-speaking environments.

In addition to academic coursework, our students benefit from an on-site orientation, the opportunity to live with a Jordanian family, structured ways to meet local students, and organized excursions to exciting locations around Jordan. Need-Based Scholarships, $500-$3,000. Blog Abroad Scholarships, $1,000.
