CAPA London: Film and Media

Delve into and engage with London’s film and media world when you study abroad on this hands-on program which is unlike any other. You’ll explore the technical side of media production as well as theoretical concepts and histories of film and media in this buzzing global city and beyond.

In collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh, classes are double taught and kept small, so you’ll have plenty of individual attention. You’ll experience a culturally rich semester abroad accented by of high-level academic expertise and an opportunity to work on your portfolio using the world-class production capabilities of the Derek Jarman Lab, located on-site at the CAPA London Center. You may also choose to participate in an internship or join in on two masterclasses taught by professionals.

The city of London will be your focus as you study, write critical essays, and analyze film history, and it will also act as an extension of your classroom with an emphasis on practical film production that sends you out to explore the city and gather footage. Students will also have access to the British Film Institute (BFI) Reubens Library and attend a film festival at BFI Southbank. Earn 15 credits.
