IES Abroad Dublin – Irish Studies

IES Abroad

Dublin welcomes you to experience life in the cultural and economic heart of Ireland. Known for its world-class art and music scene, your Irish education extends beyond the classroom when you listen to live music in Temple Bar or take in a show at the famed Abbey Theatre. See Irish literature come to life as you walk the same streets as authors George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, James Joyce, and William Butler Yeats.

In this program, you learn about Irish culture through courses in the humanities and social sciences that focus on themes of tradition, change, and identity in modern Ireland. Add a part-time internship or service learning placement at no additional cost for a unique opportunity to work with local Dubliners.

Join your professors on course-related trips around the city to expand your understanding of Irish culture and society. Previous trips have included visits to the National Museum of Ireland, the prehistoric monument Newgrange, and a stadium tour of Croke Park—home of the Gaelic Athletic Association.

Dublin will be your classroom. Explore the city’s well-known landmarks, such as the River Liffey, St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin Castle, and the Garden of Remembrance. Everything you do is part of your learning experience that helps you complete the picture of what Ireland has been through—and where it’s going.
