IES Abroad European Union January Term - Themes of Comparative Law: A European Perspective

Taught in English, this program gives you the chance to visit important landmarks and immerse yourself in law like you never have before. Based in the historical city of Freiburg, Germany, this unique program introduces you to law studies with a special focus on the European heritage and contemporary European culture of law and justice. As part of your coursework, you also visit cities like Strasbourg, Luxembourg, and Frankfurt to see first-hand what you're learning about in the classroom. Europe will be your classroom. Imagine visiting the European Parliament and discussing current social and political issues with EU officials, or getting to meet with local legal experts to discuss contemporary topics in European law. Welcome to study abroad! You participate in three one-week-long modules, that delve into topics such as human rights, arbitration, and international dispute settlement in European countries. You conclude your January term abroad by participating in a Moot Court with your fellow students. We want you to feel at home in your host city, so we do everything we can to help you integrate into life in Freiburg. From cultural events at our Center to tours of the city and local sites of interest, IES Abroad is there to provide all the on-site support you need.
