IES Abroad Kunming Summer - China & Southest Asian Development

The IES Abroad Kunming China & Southeast Asian Development Summer Program is designed for students who want to experience contemporary Chinese culture from an economic Chinese and Southeast Asian perspective. Based in Kunming with a focus on Southeast Asia, this program explores the development of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and the current efforts to foster economic relations and fairly share resources. Through the core course, Economic Development of the Greater Mekong Subregion, you learn about development of the GMS region, which extends from Tibet through Yunnan Province to Laos and Vietnam. You also take a Chinese language course to help you better retain an understanding of the Chinese culture. Finally, a two-week mobile learning field trip to Yunnan, Laos, and Vietnam puts your classroom learning into context. The IES Abroad Kunming Summer Program operates from the main campus of the University of Yunnan, which is located on Yi’eryi Street in central Kunming.
