IES Abroad Santiago January Term - Health Studies

Ideal for students considering careers in health-related fields, this program offers you the opportunity to learn about health care policy and delivery systems in the context of Chile’s community-centered public and private health care system. An important component of the program introduces you to historical, social, and cultural aspects of health care specific to Chile, including the treatment of illness and patients’ rights. The program consists of one course, Health Studies: Clinical Observation and the Cultural Aspects of Health Care in Chile, divided into two components: Clinical Observation and Intensive Spanish for Beginners. The primary component, Clinical Observation, allows you to observe patient care in public and private clinics. A classroom seminar provides a framework for clinical observations and analyzes themes such as efficiency, equity, and the quality of service delivery to patients. Intensive Spanish for Beginners is designed to help you develop Spanish language skills focusing on medical terminology. Study abroad in Santiago and gain unique insight into the field of health care. See website for details: www.IESabroad.org/study-abroad/scholarships
