Preparing the Next Generation of Global Leaders
Diversity Abroad was founded in 2006 with a simple vision, that the next generation of young people from traditionally marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds be equipped with the skills, experiences and networks to thrive - personally, academically and professionally - in our 21st century interconnected world and global workforce. We are driven by this vision and partner with over 300 colleges and universities, companies and government agencies throughout the world to impact the lives of thousands of young people every year.
Since its inception Diversity Abroad, among other activities, has directly connected with thousands of students on hundreds of high school and college campuses, secured over $1million in scholarship funds, and provided education professionals and faculty with professional learning opportunities, all in an effort to realize its vision.
What We Do
Diversity Abroad’s mission is to create equitable access to the benefits of global education by empowering educators, engaging stakeholders, and connecting diverse students to resources and opportunity. Here’s what we’re doing to achieve our mission:
DiversityAbroad.com - Our flagship website provides a place for students to access curated resources, build community and get connected to global programs and career opportunities from colleges and companies who are committed to ensuring more young people from traditionally marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds are positioned to thrive in our interconnected world. Our innovative student success platform, Abroad360, is housed on DiversityAbroad.com.
Global Student Leadership Summit: GSLS is the premier leadership conference for students from diverse backgrounds who have participated in study abroad or other international programs. The annual summit attracts dozens of diverse and underrepresented students from colleges and universities nationwide with a simple goal: to develop the skills essential to being a successful leader in a global society.
The Passport Tour: Launched in 2008, is Diversity Abroad’s nationwide campus-based initiative designed to introduce resources and opportunities to students across the country, particularly those from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
Diversity Abroad's Professional Membership Consortium: Diversity Abroad is the leading professional consortium of educational institutions, government agencies, for-profit and non-profit organizations who share Diversity Abroad’s vision. Together, members of the Diversity Abroad consortium work to advance policies and practices that advance access, diversity, equity and inclusion in global education and exchanges.
Diversity Abroad Conference: The Diversity Abroad Conference constitutes the most comprehensive national forum on issues of access, diversity, equity, and inclusion in global education. The conference strives to chart a path forward to reach a shared vision — to support student academic success, interpersonal growth and career readiness through equitable access to global educational opportunities.
