IES Abroad Auckland Direct Enrollment – University of Auckland

IES Abroad

The 2017 Mercer Quality of Living Survey ranked Auckland third in the world for quality of life. With beautiful volcanoes and lava flows, a dynamic mixture of European, Asian, and Pacific influences, friendly residents, and breathtaking coastal views, you’ll fall for Auckland’s unique charm.

From Auckland, you will have many opportunities to explore the beautiful country of New Zealand. Fans of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit series can visit nearby Hobbiton, where scenes from the movies were filmed. On the South Island, just a short flight away, you can hike or ski in the magnificent Southern Alps. With Auckland as your home, you’re in the perfect place from which to experience both the cultural and natural wonders of New Zealand.

Our study abroad program in Auckland offers you the opportunity to directly enroll in the University of Auckland, a prestigious research university that has courses in more than 150 disciplines. The University has a wealth of options in Māori Studies and has a marae (Māori sacred ground) on campus, indicative of Auckland’s diversity and New Zealand’s Māori heritage.

Auckland will be your classroom. At the start of the program, you participate in an orientation on the spectacular island of Waiheke, where you stay at a marae and learn more about Māori culture. Visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum to explore its collections in natural and human history. Learn about Auckland’s diverse geography from the Auckland Volcanic Field to the isthmus that Auckland is situated on. Everything you do and see is part of your international education.
